What Is Your Potential?
If you knew for sure that you would not fail, what would you attempt? Fear of failure is a huge factor in our being satisfied with present situations in our lives and church. This is true with respect to both the natural and spiritual realm. My hunch is that most of us live beneath our potential.
Have you been to see the movie “Courageous?” It is excellent in my estimation. The chief characters of the movie realize that they are not taking their faith very serious with respect to being the fathers, husbands, and men in general that God calls all men (and women) to be. They made a covenant with each other, their families and their church to be the men that the Bible holds up as the standard. It not only changed their lives, but many people around them also were motivated to let God have more control of their lives.
Mark 9:23 records these words of Jesus: “Everything is possible for the one who believes.” The context is of course that everything in God’s will is possible. And to “believe” is to know that the life Jesus wants for us, is the best possible life. Again, what is your potential?
A friend sent me a website that really inspired me. It is www.rightfooted.com. It has all kinds of videos and information about Jessica Cox who was born without arms. She has learned to do all kinds of things, using her feet. She even flies a plane. I encourage you to check out the website.
If each of us were to earnestly pray, “Lord, I am willing to try anything and everything you lead me to accomplish,” what might happen in our church, community and beyond? The Bible is clear; God stands ready to enable us “…to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” (Ephesians 3:20)
Let’s ask God to give us big dreams and then give him our full cooperation so that He will receive glory and praise.
